FASHION
Viktor is about simple 1920s fashion. He tends towards comfort and movement to anything fashionable. He generally wears clothing that can get very dirty, such as mechanic's overalls. He'd rather die than wear a tuxedo.DEMEANOR
Blunt as a 2x4 to the head. Viktor means what he says and says what he means. He's not into talking, or emoting. He's not a big people person. He's better at hitting things til they stop being a problem than dealing with them in more healthy and constructive ways. He's over protective of young ladies and abrasive as hell to nearly everyone he doesn't like. Viktor accepts responsibility for the situation he finds himself in, and does not spare any pity for himself or his co-workersVOICE
Deep booming bass. Viktor in the comic speaks in a phonetic accent that's supposed to be Slavic in sound. I do not write out the exact pronunciation but will leave out certain words as he would.OLFACTORY
Viktor smells of blood, sweat, gunpowder and alcohol.MAGIC & TELEPATHY
Unless you count the Glare Beam as magic which is just a super intimidating glare, Viktor has zero magic. He is, however, a master of improvised weapons. Anything becomes deadly in Viktor's hands.INVENTORY

Date: 2021-08-25 05:27 am (UTC)NAME: Viktor Vasko
CANON: Lackadaisy
CANON POINT: Lackadaisy Anodyne (he's recovering from being shot)
AGE: 41
BACKGROUND: Here
PERSONALITY: Viktor is a very surley man. He's mostly action while talking as little as possible. He's earned a reputation of being sour and curmudgeony because of his generally unpleasant ways of dealing with people he doesn't like. He's been known to beat Ivy's boyfriends into hospitalization because they are "no good" and regularly threatens Rocky because he's loud. He honestly solves most of his problems with his fists. This makes him a very good heavy for the illegal rumrunning that Mitzi needs to keep her business running. Before the start of the series proper, we get snippets of his early years at Lackadaisy.
During this time, it is shown that he seems to have a begrudging respect for his fellow, more neurotic hitman, Mordechai. They argue constantly, sometimes to the point of violence towards each other, but in the end, they always seem to be on the same page. At that point in time, Viktor knew he could trust Mordechai as they fought and killed side by side. It's this trust that bites him in the ass after his seven years in the bootlegging business.
He also has that same respect for Mitzi as well as Ivy, the later he treats nicer than basically everyone else in the comic (except for a little old Slavic landlandy he does chores for now and then). They are one of the few people that Viktor doesn't glare at or threaten imanant harm to on a regular basis. He does however seem to tolerate Ivy more than others. In fact, he seems soft and even paternal towards her. This might be because he sees his estranged daughter in her. She is the one character he actually smiles for. Everyone else gets a flatly annoyed look and a very powerful glare at best.
At worst, those who anger him or threaten him and his end up dead. When the Pig Farmers attack the bar, Viktor holds them off by himself, gets terribly wounded and still kills a guy and stuffs him into the back of a truck.
His predesposition for violence is his bread and butter. He is a veteran of WWI. We have only one image depicting him in the trenches but another character tells us that the war left a mark on him. He left the violence of war only to continue the battle back home. Basically, he couldn't stop fighting. But the violence isn't the only thing that the War left behind. Viktor has a huge distaste for too much noice. He can't stand incessant chatter. More than one person talking at a time doesn't seem to register as words for him but as noise. This is could also be due to his poor grasp of the English language, but it likely goes deeper than that as he goes so far as to break a radio Ivy leaves on so he can have silence.
He's very hard headed. Once he decides to do something, he's in it for good. Nothing can make him change his mind. Mordechai shoots him in the knee to try to force him to retire because 'that's how one reasons with Viktor'. Even crippled, he still stays with the Lackadaisy speakeasy, despite how poorly off they are. He might no longer owe Atlas but he knows he had nowhere else to go. He works as a mechanic and a bartender as well as a protector for the bar. While it's rare he goes out to do the running, when he does, he is always very focused. There is a job to be done and Viktor means to do it.
Viktor reportedly used to have a strong code of ethics. He worked hard in his homeland. He immigrated to the United States to get a better life for his family. He tried very hard to do the right things as his family separated to find work to make it in this new land of oppertunity. He went to war and fought against his own countrymen. But instead of getting the American Dream, he was caught up in Union Breaking riots after he returned from war. He defended himself and his fellow dock workers against violent means of breaking unionization attempts. This left him missing an eye and doing jail time making it basically impossible for him to get gainful employment. He learned then that it didn't matter what he did. He'd never be treated fairly. He knows the world doesn't give anything to anyone. He went to work for Atlas because he believed he owed the man a debt for getting him an expensive lawyer and out of prison in months instead of decades (he hurt police officers in the dock riots).
His ethics are now that people should accept what's coming to them, especially if one works for an illegal and highly dangerous business. If he has to cave someone’s skull in with a shovel in the course of a night’s work, so be it; if someone shoots him to death in return, that’s fair enough. When Rocky speaks to him about misgivings about this life and the job, Viktor's advise was 'quit'. This is his way of telling Rocky that if he can't handle the bad stuff and is too worried about being hurt, he needs to leave.
He knows he's trapped in this life now, but like with that single word to Rocky, he does try to keep people from getting caught up too much. Especially Ivy. He hates the idea that she's caught up in all this illegal stuff and keeps telling her she should go home. He also lies to her to hide the people he's killed from her. When he's injured and ill, he does his best to chase her away. He doesn't want her or anyone like her caught up in the violence of his life. This is why as of his canon point, he's yet to write his own daughter back, despite the large amount of letters she sends to him.
POWERS/ABILITIES: Viktor is badass normal. Canonically, he's lifted a grown man ( the cats of Lackadaisy are supposed to be people) by his neck so his feet dangles. He's also known to make just about anything he gets his hands on into a deadly weapon. He's also a very good mechanic for 1920s crappy trucks and a plumber for 1920s kitchen sinks.
